where can i get this drip tray for my 3 ft sump, cause its a bit noisy when water falles on coarse foam then to fine foam then to bio balls.<
><
>i heard a drip tray is good to use but where to get one, or is there any other alternatives such as should i put some fine foam on the top as well?<
><
>thanks

Dyce

just make one using a peice of plastic and a drill.<
><
>Although I don''t think you''ll get it any less noisy??<
><
>I think the main reason for a drip tray is for even distribution of water over the foam, if anything I think you''ll hear it splash a bit louder. fish fish fish fish turkey fish fish gobble

true good point, so any suggestions ?<
>i cant have spinning arm as i have 3 pipes cuming to sump.

use a bit of cain so the water can run down it, ive seen this used on job sites to stop the splashing and excess noise from downpipes runing water into gutters. dont know if it will work in this case, but its a sugestion.HTH.:

bud,<
>still go with the drip tray just add some pipe and an elbow so the water come in on an angle and washes across the tray.<
>just get your self a sheet of perspex and mark out a grid of 25mm sq and drill holes on all the corners. <
>you can buy a drill bit made for drilling perspex, as a normal one will get hot and melt the perspex rather than cut a net hole. also lay the sheet on some foam so you support around where you are drilling, sometimes it had a tendency to crack after you have a few holes done.<
>you will also need a lip of glass about 50mm from the top of the tank for it to sit on and that far down so it wont over flow.<
>if you find the water not getting away quick enough drill a few more holes.<

Tradesmans secret:<
>You dont need a special drill bit to drill perspex, if you have an old drill bit of the correct size allready, just drill into some concrete alittle to blunten the bit,not too much though just enough so its not got sharp edges, an if u drilling largeish holes, start of with a smaller bit and yeah as wayne said put something under it wen you drill, picked that tip up from a perspex factory I recently visited..........
