Does anybody have one of these? are they any good and if so how long has it been running?

Sigmaphile

I have one.
Awesome pump.
When run with 19mm poly pipe it will give you all the air you need to run a fishroom.
If you are thinking of getting one i would say GO AHEAD!!!!.

Thanks guys I am looking at one but have read an article where the rubbers in them deform after a while. see topic here http://www.peter.unmack.net/archive/rml/rmlnov04/0026.html

i'd imagine that happens with most pumps?

Good reliable pump.  Have several of them and the only problem is the rubbers can go but we replace them with a thin heat proof rubber that we got at Clarke Rubber.  Buy a sheet of it for a few dollars and cut new ones out yourself. On the whole though a really good value for money pump.

This is ironic.  I was the bloke who wrote this article.  It's amazing what you find referenced on the internet :-).

But to clarify, what I found was the centre oscillator on two units kept rubbing on the electromagnets (actually they only rubbed on one side) and even after replacing all the diaphragms and other products (the Resuns come with a replaceable white flapper valve and diaphragm assembly) the oscillator still rubbed.

The first unit was so hot that it discoloured the label on the front and gave me blisters when I touched it.  That's HOT.  The second one is probably still ok but I decided not to risk it and purchased a Medo (AKA Sweetwater) unit for $500.  So far two years into it and it's running sweet.  Pretty quiet too.  The only problem is that it is in a cupboard attached to a wall, which vibrates and the wall vibrates.  Other than that the bubbles make more noise than the pump itself :-)

"The Pump" range of air pumps are the ultimate in air pumps, but in saying that they are also the most expensive, you get what you pay for though,

But note the resun "lp" range are a runout model, they are now branded the "Tornado" and are still a pretty good pump.

id have to agree there, i have seen a  "the pump 80" run 60 tanks for 10 years with no dramas.

I have an lp60 / Tornado 90,  pumps 90lpm which is heaps for my 25 tanks, and eassily sends up heaps of bubbles even in 2 foot deep tanks, i actually have a few airlines just in the air and still heaps of pressure. Mine is plumbed into a circut of 25mm pvc pipe, which has air line coming out of

Fifteen years on and a couple of "the Pump" 150's are still going, only one of the pair has had repairs a couple of years ago.

I had a similar problem with an old dodgy pump were the arm was rubbing the magnet,
I fixed it by adding a thin bit of sponge in the hinge between the arm and the main body bit,
this pulled the arm away and brought everything back into alignment, with no rubbing, its been working a year like this with no problems
