Hey all, well, some might know i am on honeymoon in Europe at the moment, well, i have managed to get Min along to see some fish here and there so best tell you all what we have been able to check out.

We rode down through austria along the danube river for a week and most places we stayed had fish tanks, they featured fish from the river, unreal. They have some full on monster fresh water pike hey, nastiest teeth i have seen on a fish in a tank yet, as well as a heap of other bi g fish as well but i'll have to get on the net when back at home to fill you all in a bit more.

In Vienna we made it to the aqua terra zoo, housed in a massive concrete block, it was basically 5 floors of aquariums and terrariums. heaps of snakes, lizards, and fish.

Well, egyptian mouthbrooders guys like you would not believe, a fish so stunning that if i can ever find one to replicate it sourced in australia you bet i will be keeping them, magnificent blue shimmers right down the sides and yellow head, fantastic.

A rainbow tank that was to die for, a few of the speciosis rainbows and irth. rainbows from australia, as well as my goodness, a host of absolute beauties from png, will get the photos up when back home.

hmm what else.... convicts, yes, the very ones, lets not hear them knocked at auctions ever again, they were out in force in the turtle tanks as both a food source and great cleaner-upperers, making sure no food went rotten in the tanks.

a heap of other great fresh water and marine tanks, but no rift lake cichlids guys, boy ho boy, if you had an aquarium zoo wouldn't you have a some?

Jonneyrotten, you would have loved the snakes champ if you are still into them, a whole floor just on snakes and spiders, albino pythons were huge, as well as a myriad of others, cobra's, amazon tree snakes, asian snakes, but not many from oz, nor the great aussie bird eating spider but not to worry, they just dont know what a huge spider is do they.

back to fish. we spent a week in germany but unfortunately didn't have time to find any aquariums or fish guru's of the dwarf cichlid variety, not really suitable on a honeymoon i guess. a highlight though was in one of the hotels we stayed in, a 5x2x2, densley planted tank set up by probably one of those guys inspored by the dutch planted tanks, it was magnificent and home to 4 or 5 pairs of different drawfs so excellent.

well, here is hoping my mates and the team of fellows looking after our fish shed while we are over here are doing ok and we should return to some very eager fish, boys keen to see their ladies again.

well, here's wishing all you guys the best and look forward to catching up when back, november auction likely i would say (assuming one is on, i best check the events calendar)

cheers all,

Andrew

i've just jumped on again and realised tonight was the gold coast auction night so thought for a second that's why things are quiet on here, but alas, just had another though and it is more like the fact that it is just about 8pm here so i dare say in the wee hours of the morning back home!

min, new wife, just informed me we have a wedding on nov 19th so alas, looks like married life has started hey, missing a fish auction, goodness me.

cheers all,

Andrew.

Hey Andrew, if you've got time to think about fish and the Gold Coast Auction, you cant be having much of a honeymoon, I'd be worried about the Missus with all those Continentals over there.

G'day fellas,

Well Theo, i don't think we have to worry about the continentals all that much, while admittedly i do have time to think of fish and auction, so yes, you're probably right in not the ideal honeymoon, we are not amongst the greek isles or the south italian coast, so all the gents we're meeting are rude and generally not all that classy. As for the ladies, different story there, we were told by a german father and daughters at the oktoberfest that maybe we should have come on this trip before we were married :)

well, this morning we headed to the colloseum and old roman area, tell you what guys, these romans leave us for dead, the series of aquaducts is full on, and fish. You needed to see some of these garden waterfalls to believe them, we are talking water falls, ponds and the like in the order of 2000 years old, water plants and sights to die for, alas the good old comet goldfish swimming around but excellent.

Gary, i hope to get all us CQ fellows together late this year or in the new year for a bbq or something so will have to catch up for sure.

Thanks for the good wishes guys and hope all things fishy are going well.

Andrew.

Hi everyone,

Well yes, we have made it back home finally, hadn't seen the fish for 8 weeks but all is well, the odd hiccup but generally, mates proved their weight in gold as very few losses and they all helped out like champions.

Thanks Winston for the offer, i hope to get photos sorted out and things in the next week or so and will shoot you a couple for sure.

James, we tied the know 2nd last weekend in Sept in a town 4hrs west of Toowoomba, all good, it was a super day hey.

Well, as for any more fish on the honeymoon, Paris was the place hey.
We were walking along the Nortern side of the river, heading to the Louvre gallery and well, as luck would have it, came to what must have been about 5 pet shops in a row, and i have to say, we are pretty lucky in oz compared to there.

i'll stick up the specific prices i saw when i unpack the diary that i wrote them down in but neons in the order of about 3 euros each!, thats $5.10 a fish!!!!
Piranahs for 18 euro each and angels and things generally about the same as home at say 12 dollars a piece.

i look forward to sticking some more up when a bit less tired and look forward to catching up with all you fellas in the coming weeks hey.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Good to see you had a great time Andrew, I wouldnt mind getting some tips on Europe off you when you get time later on. I am going in March and not being on a honeymoon, I will have more time to look at fish. Would be good to see some of your pics as well.
