is it necessary to have hosts for cookoo's?
if it is can you just have one female host or do you need breeding pair as a host?

mate it is necessary to have hosts for cuckoos
plus u need at least a pair of mouthbrooders so they can spawn and as u most likely have read , the cuckoos jump in lay there eggs amoungst the hosts eggs then the hosts pick up all eggs and then few days time they hatch and eat any of the hosts eggs
 :D

If you look them up under their scientific name "Synodontis multipunctatus" on the planetcatfish site you will find some good info and pictures. There is also a good thread saved as a sticky by "Merjo" on the Sydney ACE forum.

If you are interested in getting some young cuckoo cats around 6cm, I breed them on the Gold Coast and will be coming up for the Brisbane auction at Clayfield later this month. Contact me for prices if you want me to bring some up for you then.
