Rightio all, it has damn well happenned.

We were looking after an big oscar of ours over Christmas that we'd given to friends here in town and when we put him back in his tank this morning, he got stuck into the snails that we around in the tank and would appear to have now dislocated his jaw.

Suggestions?....

If anyone has actually done it before, how would putting my thumb in his mouth, on his lower jaw, gently opening and out and then gently putting back in go you reckon? I haven't seen him, Min just called me about it before so any ideas would be great guys.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Andrew,
That sounds about right. They are very tough fish. I had one which lost most of it's bottom jaw bone entirely and it lived for many years. If you want some tips on easy fish anesthetics to just email me direct but if it's a quiet fish you can do it before it even realises it's out of the water. Late at night when it's asleep may be a good idea.
