hi, this will be the first auction that i've sold fish.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me a bit of an idea on the lots etc allowed.
I have looked at the rules for auction, but am a little confused regarding the lot amounts etc.

Say for example I have some hongi for sale
if i have some 4cm, and some 5-6.5cm how many bags of each size can I put in, and how many in total of any one size, and species?

if that's not too confusing I could really use a heads up cheers

I think you are only allowed 3 bags of one species but dont quote me on that.
Give Bill a ring he will help you out

Yes 3 bags of one type of fish but you can also put in 3 bags of the same thing in someones elses name. If your wife is going with you put the other sized ones under her name.
How many Hongi in each size are you hoping to take.
Dont put too many in a bag because you won't get much more for the bag than if you put 4 or 5 in it.

I was only going to be putting 4 in the larger bags, maybe 5 in the small bags.
I wasn't going to be selling a super amount anyway.
Thanks

If your wife isn't there you will always find someone that will add 3 bags on to their stuff for you and give you the money afterwards.
Good luck

Another good thing to remember is that the larger the fish the less you want to put in each bag.
The main thing is to have the fish remain alive if a bag of fish is found to have a dead fish in it then the whole bag is withdrawn from sale.
"All fish should be in a healthy condition. If any dead fish are found in a lot then that lot will not be offered for sale."
So it is often better to bag fish of any decent size individually and group three or four bags as one LOT.
Remember that one "LOT" can be more than one bag.
The rules state "As for fish and plants, sellers can sell up to 3 LOTS of any one Variety up to a maximum of 10 LOTS of any one SPECIES. There is no limit on the number fish in a bag or on the number of bags in a lot."
Also if you go through the rules they give you guidelines on how to have the fish bagged   "All bags must be approx 1/3 water 2/3 air and sealed tightly – any fish not bagged properly will incur a charge for rebagging at the least or be rejected from the sale at the worst."
and
"All bags used for bagging fish MUST be clear and not opaque – do NOT use freezer bags – any fish not bagged in clear bags will not be accepted for auction"
If you stil are unsure ask someone to help there are usually four people out the back whoses job it is to receive and check the lots and one of them should be able to help.

Thanks Graeme

I had read the rules, I just needed a little clarification on it.

when it comes to bagging fish for auction, is it better to bag with tank water or can you get away with aged tap water.
