Hi,<
>My tank has become slightly milky. I am not sure why. I have a 4 ft tank, running a Eheim in tank filter and an external Pro-Aqua CF-1500 filter.  I have put ''Easy-Life'', Aqua Star, and Aqua Clear into the tank.  It was cyrstal clear for the first few days and now it has become milky. Any suggestions as to what might be causing it and how to fix it?  I now have 3 23cm Oscars in there. Thanks, Ben.

Dyce

New Tank Syndrome.<
><
>You''ll have to do some big water changes like 50% a day for a few weeks, or get alot of filter media from an already setup filter which''ll jumpstart your filter.<
><
>But becareful not to get ammonia spike and kill your fishies. fish fish fish fish turkey fish fish gobble

ashhhh

ditto to dyce comments<
>but also add some beneficial aerobic bacteria to your water with your water changes, it comes in liquid form from any good LFS (local fish shop)..amtrite down is a good one to use<
>just follow the directions, beneficial bacteria is whats needed in your filter to
eak down the bad bacteria - and dont feed your fish too much to keep the wastes down. <
>Hence a cycled tank means - you have built up enough ''good'' bacteria in your filter, to
eak down the ''bad'' bacteria from excess food and fish wastes, otherwise yeah ammonia will spike and fish will die - good luck Cheers<

No i dont think you should be changnig the water, that way the ammonioa levels will never get high enough to grow a decent colony of bacteria in time. and it will take forever to get clear water. <
><
>I would get some nitrivec ( or other biological filter bacteria) put it in your filter media and water, and take out most of your fish. <
><
>If you cant take out your fish, then just stop feeding them. <
><
>I think water changes are only going to stress out your fish, and wont do a whole lot of good.<
><
>If it gets so bad your fish look like they are going to die, then obviously you should change the water, or put them in a bucket or something. If they can take it, then leave them, in there.<
><
>Thats my 2 cents.
