hey all,

I transferred my clown loaches to a new tank yesterday, when I netted one of my larger ones it left a massive heap of clear slime in the net.

Is this just part of it's protective coating?
It was a lot of slime, lots.
Just haven't had it that bad before.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure loaches are scaleless fish, and so tend to have a thicker slime coat. Most of the chlorine removing solutions have a slime coat addative so theres probably some in the tank already so I wouldnt worry too much, just keep an eye on him for a few days in case any fungus gets in.
promise I wont buy any fish this week..... NOT!

Small warning to the unaware: Clown loaches have the scientific name of Botia macracanthus.  Macracanthus stands for 'big spine which is a large pre orbital spike that can inflict nasty damage if your not careful. The larger the loach, the larger th espike but even small ones can slice your hand if your careless.
