ha,

I am in the process of making a new display tank. I just finished the stand today and i will be having two 2X18X18's on it, the one on the bottom for fry grow out and the one on top as a display tank for small frontosa. In the display tank i was wanting to have a 4ft flexi air curtain in a spiral covered in gravel. Then have a pile of small rocks on top, so that the bubbles come through the rocks.

But im unsure of what filtration would be the best for this setup. Any suggestions are welcome.

Not to discourge the frontosa, but a 2 foot tank is really to small, any frontosa over about 5cm i think needs a bigger tank.

You could go a multi outlet air pump to run sponge filters and your air curtain. I prefer sponge filters in my fry tanks as the fry eat any crap caught up on it's surface without the risk of losing any through filters etc.

Although I've never had Frontosa I'm also leaning towards the fact that the tank is/will soon be too small for them. If your keen on Africans you could try some shellies for a start, maybe Brichardi as they'll breed easily in them. Especially if you get a good pair/trio of Brichardi. They'll soon have your fry tank overflowing. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Bryce.

yeah i know the tank could be bigger, but i am moving sometime soon, so i dont want the hassel of moving 'another' big tank and i wont have many fry in tank. But will definatly transfer the fry to a bigger tank when i can.

Also i do not intend on breeding them, i just want them for display tank.

Anyway i think i am going to go with a hang on filter, so thanks for the responses.
