Wish I could find that thread, I think it was on the Perth Cichlid forum. From what I recall the breeder in Perth worked tirelessly to produce a completely yellow Labidochromis caeruleus. He posted pictures of his first all-yellow batch on that forum as well as cichlid-forum.com but no way I can find it now. Some people's responses were negative, but some people loved them.
I must admit I don't mind the look of them as a display fish only.

Ah huh, that's the one.
Thanks Andrea, do you still have your "Yellow yellows"?

merjo

No I don't. Kimbo took all of them and I don't know if he pursued the quest or not  :? I wish I had taken photos of them before they went though so I could add them to the electric yellow article I wrote.

I knew you would of bought them as something?   I just wanted to know, might give more of an idea, or confirm thoughts of what the fish is.
Yellow-Yellows?? They look just like the Gold Zebs.

Below I have placed 3 pics for comparison.
With the middle pic(YYs) there are some differences when compared to the electric yellow.(top)
The bit of red in the eyes(YY, red zeb trait), the shape of its head & mouth, the thicker rounder body, the shape of the fins-especially the dorsal, anal & pelvic. Are all like the Red Zebra. And also YY has no black markings. Why try to breed the markings out too?

[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/Picture019.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/RedZebPulu.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
In the group shot, there are variances in the head & mouth shapes, I take it they are all from the same batch? These variances lean me towards them being hybrids.(imo)
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/Awholebunchofthem.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
So I reckon you got what is commonly called Yellow Yellows(Hybrid) or Gold Zebs.(Hybrid) (imo)

In the article Andrea(thank you) supplied, have people seen what the Canadians have done with crossing yellows & pulu's:?
It is a concern as some of them look better than our own "pure" yellows, the 2nd one!!! 8O

look as this page, really nice and clean, yellow....hybrids.

So if I am on the money? & I hope I'm not. Are these being sold as electric yellows?

nb; Edit of post by me, after re-reading.   Some of what I wrote came out a tad off colour,(note to self not to jump on forums when smashed)  apoligies to Kev, if I offended.
I believe that most here would of recieved a fish we weren't sure of.
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/2005_0523Image0003.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7] This was meant to be an albino yellow, bought from a reputable North Brissie store. At 2cm looked like it might be by 4cm, nope.

Then there are these yellows, or is that the cream, the white, the beige, ivory...I saw these at the time of Andreas E.Yellow article, had to get a pic.
