Hi,

I've never seen this before in a fish so thought I'd hand it over for some "advice".

Female yellow (has laid eggs before) was last night swaying from side to side with a very swollen anus. So take her out fearing the worst, put in hospital tank and then boom 15mins later there is an egg. Shit we thought she was sick not laying eggs as we've never seen any of your other female fish display the swaying behaviour when laying. Is this normal..... or could she be suffering from a blocked egg (I've heard of that happening before)....

Thanks,

Alana

Hi Alana...

hmm...i definately don't think it was a happy fish, they don't normally have that trouble so although i haven't head of 'blocked egg' myself, i reckon you could be on the money.

Yes, eggs can get "Stuck" which can then be potenially fatal....

Im not sure on how to treat this as ive never actual had a fish with it but sealordau did have one of his fronnies with it so he may be able to help you with treatment if the yellow is still having trouble...

HTH.

Its called egg bound and nothing you can do that i've heard of but if she was egg bound she wouldn't of dropped an egg(i would think) , id let her go see how she goes HTH
