Gold Coast Shops

Seeing Aquariums Alive photos has inspired me to possibly see if QAH members may be interested in a Gold Coast shop crawl one weekend soon (so I'll still be here for it). I know of Aquarium & Petland, Nerang,
Aquarium Warehouse and so coarse Aquariums Alive but what else would you Gold Coast hobbists rate as worth a look.
See if I can put a list together and an itinerary to take to next comittee meeting and see what they think.

Here are some more, added my little comments, all IMO. so not worth much really.

[b:72dc6c2a73]G & S Aquariums[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Runaway Bay Rumour has they have gone mostly marine now, I haven't been there for a while, but George & Sandy know there fish.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Q Aquarium[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Q Super Store, Mermaid Waters. Have a very good range of cichlids. Maccas next door to is a bonus.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Aquariums in Paradise [/b:72dc6c2a73]in Southport. I dont go there much as I think there are better options, worth a look still.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Gold Coast Pet Centre[/b:72dc6c2a73], Burleigh. Hit & miss. can have some nice goods. Nicely laid out fish room.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Bernies Pet Barn[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Bundall. Dont stock much cichlids/fish anymore. Only go there if heap of time.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Nerang Pet Barn[/b:72dc6c2a73], worth looking at as everything is nicely laid out, but umm lets say Brad does nicely because of them.
[b:72dc6c2a73]Beenleigh Aquarium[/b:72dc6c2a73] on George St is a must for Cichlid Keepers. Andrew is entertaining too, ask him about the albino plecos 8O
[b:72dc6c2a73]Coral Plantations[/b:72dc6c2a73], if you are into marines, great place. 7 Villers Dr Currumbin
[b:72dc6c2a73]Mermaid Marines[/b:72dc6c2a73], GC Hwy, good if you are into them
If you have time
[b:72dc6c2a73]Living Hobbies[/b:72dc6c2a73]down at Tweed heads Boyd St
also
[b:72dc6c2a73]Tugun Nursery & Aquarium[/b:72dc6c2a73], gee I haven't been there since marcus left so not sure what they have now days.

As you stated
[b:72dc6c2a73]Aquariums Alive[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Nerang. Friendly staff, Brad will help you with anything. Well nearly... great range of cichlids & products, very well priced. The 2-10.5ft tanks are worth a look too. Have the best bakery in town next door too.

[b:72dc6c2a73]Aquarium & Petland[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Southport. Have some great goodies{new mbunas} in at the moment for a great price, have alot of Cichlids in stock. & very cheap high quality Aussie made tanks.

[b:72dc6c2a73]Aquarium Warehouse[/b:72dc6c2a73] at Labrador & Sthpt. Alot of fish in stock, well laid out, had some nice catties at Labrador when I was there last week too.

That should keep you busy. I think people may be suprised by the quality of some Gold Coast shops. Me & Brad did a tour last week of Brissie Stroes. Southside was great!!! Northside well apart from a couple, umm, hmm, yeh.

Had thought of maybe making Andrew at Beenleigh our place to meet and go on from there.
Seems to be more on Gold Coast than I thought so will work on it for meeting next week.

Hey Linda I've been to aquariums alive & it is well worth a visit.I've also been to aquarium warehouse at labrador & that is worth a trip as well.It's good to see what else is for sale in other shops besides the lfs.I definately would be interested.Great idea.

Linda, We have been talking about a fish shop crawl (like a pub crawl only better) I believe we will be talking about this at the nexy comittee meeting next week. I will push for making it sooner more than latter. I think the only reason we have not done it so far is the Cab show!

We've discussed it a long time back but nobody followed it up and idea just fizzled out but there are a lot of new shops down there now and I would certainly like to see them too. I know a lot of members would be keen so I'll put something on paper and trot along to meeting with it.

living where I live I don't get down that way at all, John/Sonia are very keen as well, Im hoping to do this very soon. I have some new tanks that could do with some filling!!!!

Havn't been in a Gold Coast shop myself for years but if it can't fit into time frame before show thats just my tough luck.

i would highly recomend the Q store aquarium.... it is the only place i buy my fish from .fish got gooooodd quality ... and cheep prices ... if u would like more details pm zac_attack as he is a staff member there ...............................but i would also recomend the nerang pet barn . they also have good quality fish and good prices ..

Q Aquarium is good,
I remember last time I was there the guy let me catch my own, as he couldn't catch the 2 fish in one of the tanks what I wanted :lol:

As for the other store just mentioned, I will never buy a fish from there & haven't done so in years.
