on the weekend i moved house and had to move the tank and the day i moved tank my bristle nose layed eggs for the first time. do u think the move contributed to this like the dropping of water levels or somehting. its strabge because i didnt think i had a male. do they lay eggs with out a male being in the tank?? or do they only lay eggs if there is a male. how long will they take to hatch?? the mother constantly guards them. any feed bakc would be muchly appreciated, thanks..

con grats,
its more likely the male is the one guarding them.

Hey mate

I had a similar thing happen with the young male without visible bristles doing the guarding.
And now they are like humping rabbits I have had 2 batches in 3 months and for the 4 months prior I had none.

yeah i would say that it is a male. sometimes you can hardly see there bristles but they are there. it is weird if the female is guarding them. usually it is the male. but stranger things have happened so either way if they hatch you have more fish. they take about a week to hatch sometimes a couple of days more or less so yeah.
e kind to your fish and they will be kind to you too
