I have noticed a couple of different fish(frontosa/peacocks/livingstonii) of mine over the last two months get one cloudy eye. On most of them it dissapears after a day or three, but a couple still have it.
Any ideas on what this could be as I am all out of ideas? ph has been stable.

hmmm, whitespot.....dont think so, maybe could be temporary blindness, who knows, take your water to a fish shop and ask them to test it for everything....
eeping fish isnt just a hobby...............

its an obsession!!

I would treat it as white spot turn up ya heaters and get the water at around 30c and then treat the hole tank
But only 1/2 the dose if you have small scal fish like clown loachers and alike
Or if there is a lot of aggression in the tank it might be them brusing their eyes

yup, let us know if it cures it....me and roo were talking before and said it might be them fighting and getting bung eyes?? but treat as white spot and let us know if it cures it

I would check the nitrates, depending on the size & frequency of your water changes you might have to do a bigger change than normal.I do 30% changes on my tanks weekly but 3 times a year I do 2 changes in a week.Hth
Cheers Brian.
o harm in asking.

I always assumed this was from them fighting....I've had it happen to 2 fish in the 2 years I've had fish - both in separate tanks so... :?

Melafix always seems to clear it up anyway.

If it is only the eyes that are cloudy look at fighting, sharp objects in the tank or dirty water. Usually clean water or a fungus cure will help clear the eyes.

Look for symptons of other illness like velvet, ich, or tuberculosis. These can cause the eyes to go cloudy. If so treat for the disease in question.

Or if the fins are frayed, the body appears bloated, sores on body, loss of colour, red streaks... then it's bacterial. Treat for bacterial problems.

white spot??? fellas come on...... it's not white spot at all don't wast your money on medication or your electricity on raising the temp.

like frenchy said, it's most likely from fighting, either a bite or the fish has scraped it's eye on a sharp rock
