I got struck with the white spot BAD about a month ago have to agree with the salt, heat and air solution for ten days then vacume fixed mine up

Thanes

I had a bad case lately,fixed 1 tank with salt & heat( kept heat up for 3 weeks & did 1degree drop every 3 days back to norm temp),tank 2 did heat & salt but it wasn't enough so also used protazin(from AOA-Bens) & this settled the debate & no probs since.Also from what I've read dropping the temp only slows down the white spot life cycle & doesn't kill it.But you got to have an open mind.
Cheers Brian.
o harm in asking.

here fishie fishie

Good luck with the salt, be precise, as some catties & some tetras can be funny on salt, especially if not used to it.

ps; [quote:33037884c7]There is a viralent strain of white spot around that seems to have affected a few people. [/quote:33037884c7] What do they call this new virulent strain? As far as I am concerned it is a ciliated parasite called [i:33037884c7]Ichthyophthirius multifiliis[/i:33037884c7] & it has been treated effectivly using a simple method for years, well decades.

[quote:33037884c7]and neither should you as i will declare war on the world if they do, and that affects you![/quote:33037884c7] Really lol. Well if you are going to put rare fish in a diseased tank, I rate your chances at war then :wink: Sorry I couldn't help myself, I do feel for ya.{Slaps myself}

The real concern is what caused the problem in the first place, as prevention is better than cure. How is your water quality, any stress in the tank, water temp :?:  :?:  :?: Because if you were using the medicine properly, you have clean water & the fish all get along, it should be cured by now.

THEYRE ALL DEAD

They were on the road to recovery when 4 nights later my D*&%head drunk mate tipped half a container of food in the tank and then passed out spilling the rest on the floor...

I got home late the next afternoon and as you can imagine, it got physical. Not only the geophagus, but the whole tank bar two cory's.......DEAD!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
