Hi, I was wondering what else I can feed my bristlenose other than blanched Zuchini. How can I be sure that what I feed them will be eaten by him and not the other tankmates?

Thanks very much for your help.

I think this question has been asked how many thousand times ????

There should be one central answer zone,,,,like a Bull's eye,!!!  when ever this question is asked, everything is automaticly sucked into the "answer zone"

Therer are so many questions and answers about Bristle Nose food and diet that there should be a big green "U Turn Arrow"

Check what has gone before !!!!!!

Raw vegies. I never cook or blanch anything. Zucchini & pumpkin.

I am not real sure on the cooked/blanched/raw veg thing Scott.

I am sort of in agreement with the school who say that cooking/blanching leaches out vitimins and minerals.

Steaming dosen't leach but does breack down cell structure and make veg easier to digest,,,for us at least.

How it works for fish ? I can't say..... Not with out a heap of experimentation and research.

Just from personal experience I prefer the cooked/blanched/steamed alternative.

A weighted slice of raw pumpkin may last two or three days in one of my B/N tanks.   On the other hand, 6 or 8 slices of pumpkin steamed/cooked/blanched, not only sinks to the feeding zone without weight, but is completely consumed in half an hour or less!!!!!  It is absolutely amazing how fast they will eat it all.

A bit of primative Maths indicated that the fish are getting like 20 times the food if it is cooked as compared to raw !!.

That really ups the cleaning and maintainance for crap and waste, but may be better for fish growth.....

I don't know for sure

Just going by what works for me.

Alan.
