Hey Guys

I am just wondering what sort've heating I should look at running for my new 7x2x2? I'm not running a sump just a big cannister and a internal

May want to check out using a 300w "in-line" heater that connects externally along your outlet hose. You'll likely also need a standard internal 300w heater the opposite end of the tank to the outlet anyway, preferably lying near the internal filter's outlet making it more efficient.

Another idea is get some reflective insulation paper to cover the back glass panel of the tank. It'll work ok behind any backdrop you may have, but essentially it'll insulate the tank a little so that your two heaters don't work as hard. Doesn't seem like much but every little bit helps.

Insulation will help keep your tank from dropping to much on the colder nights

A Jager 300w heater will safely heat 1000L of water

Though having 2 heaters always helps in the even of a heater breaking

The house/rooom the tank is in is insulated itself and doesn't really feel the cold in winter, would insulating the back really be necessary?

Thanks for your suggestions guys

GTR73

No, the insulation isn't necessary if your house is. Was just a suggestion if your room gets cold at night.

Okuma

yeh thanks bud, the room stays fairly constant/warm in winter

bud, 1-300 should do the job, being inside.....also snug fitting lids and the heat off your fluro's, be it only small things all add up to keeping the temp up.......

i knew a guy who stuck foam sheets on three sides of his tanks to help keep in the warmth...

aircon!

Well the rule of thumb is 1w per liter
So 2 300w heaters will do fine
