Hello all,

I fairly new to the aquarium hobby. I have a crayfish at the moment but am setting up a tropical tank and was looking for some help regarding fish selection.

My partner and I are looking at putting the following fish in a 3 foot tank with the following quantities.

Silver sharks x 4
Gouramis x 4
Bristlenose catfish x4
clown loaches x 3-4
and neon tetras x 10-20

Would all these fish be ok together in one talk and is this to many fish for the tank...it is 3 foot by juts over 1 foot by 1.5 foot high.

Thankyou for all your help

hi! hope you enjoy the forum

do you like bristlenose catfish, or are they just for cleaning the tank?
they're splendid cleaners :D , and it only takes one of mine to keep a tank algae free, and they are also quite messy, so maybe only having one would leave you room for more other fish
or if you wanted to breed them a pair or trio?

I don't know much about the rest,

have a nice tank!

I definitely think there are too many fish for that size. They might fit now, but they won't stay little for long. I'd steer clear of the silver sharks, because they do grow large.  You should be fine with the 4 loaches and the 4 gourami. I'd go no more than 10 neons, and only 1 or 2 BN. Fish need their room, and overcrowding is a leading source of fish losses.

A tank that size would also be ideal as a little tang tank. Tangs aren't my specialty as such, but a few of the smaller ones would go well in there.

Either way, welcome to the forums and have fun!
mmm, something..........
