Flikkitty11

This may sound like a stupid question but i have never been to a super auction so i am very ignorant...
I am planning to go to the November Super Auction and i was wondering how much things cost. Also, are tanks etc sold. there was a thread a while ago that said they were but i just want to check...
Any average/usual prices on the following items would be helpful as i need to persuade my dad to take money    :

Guppy fry (show guppies)
Guppy 'teenagers'(not adult but maybe a month and a half to two months old)
Platty fry
Platty 'teenagers'
Zebra Danio fry
Zebra Danio 'teenagers'
Bristlenose catfish 3cm to 4cm
two foot (or smaller) tanks
Heaters (if sold)
Filters (if sold)

thanks,
Flik

ive only been to a few so like you im pretty new but it seems like there are normally not too many tanks the gold coast one had maybe4 or 5 tanks  one four footer and a couple of smaller ones. Ive not seen heaters up for auction same as filters. Are far as fish prices go   its a real grab bag.
At the last super auction red top black bar zeb were being given away   while on the gold coast it was elec blues.  B/nose always sell my friennd picked up a bag of ten good size ones for 30  and that seems like a normal sort of price  as far as guppies   i never paid much attention

My adivice is 5 things

bring lots of money
bring an esky or foam box
bring more money
stay keen  you never know whats coming up next
and DONT BID AGAINST   ME      lol

good luck  peter

You dont see to many electrical items sold because they all have to be electrically tested & tagged for safety reasons. If they aren't tested & tagged they are sold with the plugs cut off.
Cheers Brian.
o harm in asking.

I've been to a few. It usually features lots of cichlids - Africans, Americans, sometimes Discus. Lots of plants usually, and usually a good selection of Betta's and catfish in general.
Usually heaps of Bristlenose catfish too, especially at 3cm to 4cm. Tropicals do feature - guppys, platties, swordtails and the like. I don't think they're a big part of the auction, but then I go for a look at the cichlids myself.
Can't recall any zebra danios at all, but doesn't mean they won't be there.

I can't recall ever seeing any tanks but they can be entered in the auction no worries, so it's possible (although wouldn't bank on it - best to post a Wanted To Buy here on the forum).
There is also usually driftwood, rocks, shipwrecks, Wayne (forum king) throws in a few big bags of filter wool, and sometimes people will auction off bulk food, conditioner, medicine and the like.
