Qld Cichlid Group (QCG) Forum — Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the Qld Cichlid Group forum! This forum exists to provide a friendly and respectful place for aquarium hobbyists to share knowledge, discuss cichlids and other aquatic life, ask questions and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

By registering for or using this forum, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Respectful Conduct

All members are expected to treat fellow members, the QCG Committee, moderators and other participants with courtesy and respect.

The following are not permitted:

* Harassment, bullying, intimidation, personal attacks or threats.
* Defamatory statements or knowingly false or misleading allegations about individuals, businesses or organisations.
* Abusive, hateful, discriminatory, obscene or unlawful content.
* Publishing another person's private or confidential information without appropriate authority.
* Deliberately disrupting discussions or repeatedly provoking other members.

Healthy debate and differing opinions are welcome, provided discussions remain respectful and comply with these terms.

2. Appropriate Content

Members must not post material that is unlawful, infringes another person's rights, or is otherwise prohibited under these terms or applicable law.

Spam, flooding, chain letters, pyramid schemes, unauthorised advertising and unsolicited commercial promotions are not permitted.

Commercial promotions, business advertisements, sales posts and other promotional content must comply with any QCG forum rules and approval requirements that apply.

3. Copyright and Photographs

Members must only post photographs, articles, videos and other material that they own, are authorised to share, or are otherwise legally permitted to use.

Members must respect copyright, intellectual property and the privacy of others. Permission should be obtained where required by law before sharing another person's material.

Content posted by members must not be copied, reproduced or used elsewhere in a way that infringes the rights of the original creator.

4. Aquarium and Animal Welfare Discussions

QCG encourages the responsible keeping, breeding and care of cichlids and other aquatic animals.

Members should aim to provide accurate, constructive information and identify personal experience or opinion where appropriate.

Information shared on the forum is for general educational and hobby purposes. Members remain responsible for assessing advice before applying it to their own aquariums, livestock or circumstances.

QCG does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of member contributions, nor does the publication of a post constitute an endorsement by QCG.

Members must comply with applicable laws concerning animal welfare, biosecurity, the keeping and movement of aquatic species, and the sale or transfer of aquatic animals.

5. Member Responsibility

Members are responsible for the content they post, including comments, photographs, links and other contributions.

Posts represent the views of their authors and do not necessarily represent the views of QCG, its Committee, moderators or members generally.

Members must not impersonate another person, use another person's account without authorisation, or knowingly misrepresent their identity in a way that is misleading or harmful.

Nothing in these terms removes any legal responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Moderation and Administration

QCG reserves the right to moderate the forum to maintain a safe, constructive and respectful environment.

Where reasonably necessary, QCG or its authorised moderators may:

* Edit or remove content that breaches these terms or forum rules.
* Issue warnings to members.
* Restrict posting privileges or temporarily suspend accounts.
* Permanently remove membership or access to the forum in cases of serious or repeated breaches.
* Take urgent action without prior notice where necessary to protect members, address security concerns or respond to potentially unlawful content.

Moderation decisions will be made in the interests of the forum and the QCG community. Where reasonably practicable, members may request a review of significant moderation decisions by contacting the forum administrator or Committee.

QCG is volunteer-run and does not guarantee that every post will be reviewed before publication or that reported content can be assessed or removed immediately.

7. Reporting Inappropriate Content

Members are encouraged to notify a forum moderator or administrator if they believe a post breaches these terms, infringes their rights or raises a legitimate safety or legal concern.

Reports should identify the relevant content and briefly explain the concern.

QCG will consider reports within a reasonable period, taking into account the seriousness of the matter and the availability of its volunteer administrators. Content may be restricted or removed while a report is assessed.

Members should not use the forum to pursue personal disputes or retaliate against other members.

8. Privacy and Personal Information

Members should respect the privacy of other forum participants and must not publish private information without appropriate authority.

The forum may collect or record information necessary to operate and secure the service, which may include registration details, profile information, posts, account activity, IP addresses and information collected through cookies or similar technologies.

Such information may be used for account administration, security, moderation and investigating reported breaches, subject to applicable law and QCG's privacy arrangements.

Personal information will only be disclosed where authorised or required by law, or in other circumstances permitted by applicable law.

Further information about personal information handling, where applicable, should be provided in QCG's Privacy Policy.

9. Account Security

Members are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts and keeping their passwords confidential.

Members must not share account credentials in a way that compromises account security, access another person's account without authorisation, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the forum.

Any suspected unauthorised access should be reported to the forum administrator.

10. Limitation of Responsibility

QCG provides this forum as a platform for members to exchange information, experiences and opinions.

To the extent permitted by law, QCG does not guarantee that member-generated content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for a particular purpose. Members should exercise their own judgement when relying on information shared by others.

QCG does not necessarily endorse statements made by individual members.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, a member may be responsible for losses or reasonable costs directly arising from their unlawful conduct or material breach of these terms.

Any such responsibility is limited to the extent the relevant loss was caused by that conduct or breach. This clause does not make members responsible for losses caused by QCG's own negligence, unlawful conduct or breach of a legal obligation.

12. Changes to Forum Rules

QCG may update these terms and associated forum rules when reasonably necessary to reflect changes in the forum, club operations or applicable law.

Material changes will be communicated through the forum or another reasonable method, with an effective date where appropriate.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Queensland, Australia, subject to any mandatory laws that may apply.

Nothing in these terms is intended to remove any rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Contact and Questions

Questions, complaints or concerns about these terms or forum moderation should be directed to the QCG forum administrator or the appropriate QCG Committee contact.

By registering for or continuing to use the QCG forum, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions, subject to applicable law.

Thank you for helping QCG maintain a welcoming, informative and respectful community for aquarium hobbyists.
