What is best to use when treating pop eye???

I get that every now and again with the Aulonocaras for some reason, in the past I have used a general antibiotic tetracycline and Melafix, some healed, others their eye fell out or sunk into the head never to be useful again.<

Pop Eye itself is not a disease, but a condition resulting from one of several possible problems: a bacterial infection (it can contract fungus as a secondary infection afterwards) environmental problems (poor water quality, etc) or trauma to the eye via an accident or injury from an aggressive tankmate. <
>Can also be caused by poor diet,eg; infected/sick feeders.  <
>Pop eye can sometimes be caused by fine bubbles from filters getting in behind the eye, so check that.<
><
>If its just one eye it may be caused by injury.<
>Treatment, sometimes fish heal by themselves by just being in clean water, a little salt, melafix....<
><
>If both eyes or multiple fish, bacterial infection, find some good antibiotics. Still may not work, as its hard for the medicine to get to where it needs to work. Unless you can give the fish an injection.<
