Just wondering if anyone hads had experience with building ply wood taks am planning on building one out of marine ply and am wondering what sealant would be safe. Any help would be appreciated.
Call me old fashioned but i like my tanks made of good ol glass :?
Interested to hear more but :D
If you haven't already read this (http://www.garf.org/140.gallon.html)
I've heard of pondtite being used and the resin from fiberglass.
If you haven't already shelled out for marine grade, exterior has exactly the same waterproof face on only one side, which is hopefully the only said that will be exposed to water and it's cheaper because of this.

This might give ya a few idears
there was a post doing the rounds a while back and it had pics of the step by step way this guy built his . it was on the american cichlid forum . it was built to keep sharks in and had a frame built from 150mm x 150mm beams and a large persplex viewing window built into it. i think after glueing it together he then used fiberglass on the inside to seal it some more .
but were talking something like a 2mx2mx2m tank.
i got onto the site and there were a few guy in their chat room but none of them could be bothered helping me to find it...........yanks!!!!!
ill see if i can find it some other way.
This the one? (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_list.php)
i believe that some members from the forum have seen my plywood tank.
It is almost 4x2x2 and is made out of exterior ply, the guy at hardboards says they all use the same glue these days and there is no such thing as marine grade anymore.
We painted it with bondcrete then pondtite and it has been going for almost 12 months.[/i]
Thanks for the help guys I don't have to buy the ply yet I have a piece sitting here and thought I could put it to use hence the question I am actually after somethin to seal the joins with and have contacted sikaflex to see what they recomend as well.
