mate i have never seen these in the country before and i would not advise buy this fish off anyone in the hobby as they are probably not the real thing.
the fish is line bred. not a cross.
and they are apparently very hard to breed!

well 30 seconds of his time in google will tell him more than 15 mins of my time typing it out. :P
ok well here go's.
the true story is that a pair of dempseys were given to a guy an the U.S and he had them breeding when oneday he noticed that half the fry were a bit smaller, paler and seemed to hang near the surfice getting hammered by the other juvies.
he took these smaller fry away and grew thwm up ,in to the blue jack dempsey (so completely by accident). he the proceded to breed these 2 and found that he couldnt keep the fry alive, he then bred 1 of the blue dempseys with a normal coulered dempsey from the same batch and he got about half and half with the fry and the blue ones survived.
he has now worked out if you breed 2 blues together the fry arent strong enuf to live, breed one blue with a normal(but from blue strain) you get about 50/50, and last of all if you breed 1 blue with 1 complete normal u get about 25% blue.
the blue dempseys seem to be less aggressive then the normal ones.
i learnt this information by talking to jeff rapps who is a close friend of the guy who bred these, and jeff rapps is a very well known man to the fish hobby in the U.S.
cheers
that's better now Steve
i would love a couple of those electric blue jack dempseys
