>i have a elec yellow which has been holding now for 3 weeks...<
>i was just wondering if i should strip her as i don''t wanna starve her for any longer than necessary...<
><
>thanks<
>damo
Get a spare net and strip her into that whether she has eggs or fry in her mouth, pop them in another tank and there ya go!<
><
>P.S. They won''t die from starvation btw<

yeh i got the same with hongi and blues.<
>how long you reckon it would take the female to recover before being fit to put back with the colony?<
>and also, what if the babies still have some egg sack.<
>i stripped a hongi female last week and some still had it, they didn''t move much, then she picked them back up again.. Steven & Amy<

I add my females straight back into the original tank after stripping, they usually have a safe spot where they hang when holding and usually go back there for a while, then they are wanting food within the next 2 hours in my case so I feed them well.<

>Sam
ahh damo there
eeding for ya, is it your fisrt mouthful with them, how ar they goin?? yeah i was waiting 2 and half weeks and then stripped them and it was sweet.
personally i see no point of stripping the females holding and i quote Quote:they won''t die of starvation btw well then why do it?!?<
><
>anyways i leave my females for 3 weeks and they spit them out, having up to forty babies at once!<
><
>who strips them in the wild , no one , then why do it !?!<
><
>LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE!!!!!! THANKYOU COME AGAIN...:WILLY
We do it to save 90% of the fry in preference to the other tanks mates \ mother eating 90% of them.<
><
>In the wild they more than likely have a squillion hiding places in square kms of lake, in the home aquarium these hiding places are taken up by fry eating predators.<

yep you milk em to get fry, especially when you don''t have squillions of tanks you can put a holding female into while shes holding.<
><
>Also when it gets too late and you want to catch her she may spit in the tank while your attempting to catch her which gives a nice snack to other tankmates.<
><
>Imo if your at 3 weeks your guaranteed to have formed or very near formed fry, just milk them out. fish fish fish fish turkey fish fish gobble
i have mine in seperators in their tank, and i have a 1 footer for a spare spit tank, so i am trying to throw them in there to let them spit.<
>either way i don''t leave them in with other tankmates.<
>when i stripped a hongi last week, the babies still had a bit more of the egg sack left on their stomachs, and they didn''t move a lot.<
>what''s the go there. i''ve had a female hongi with a mouthful for over 3 weeks now and the girl just won''t spit them, and she''s a bugger to strip. Steven & Amy<
