Title: what size sump?
Post by: genie on September 26, 2005, 05:30:39 PM
Is there any easy way to work out the size sump/water flow I need for a sump?
I want to connect in 6 x 300 litre tanks & 3 x 240 litre tanks.
Thanks
Jeannie

well it has to do with the size of your pump and what size plumbing you use....by that i mean if you have a to bigger pump and the holes/plumbing is to small it will over flow out of the tank..
you have about 2500lt of water so if you could turn that over in an hour you will be going well. have a look at AOA site and see what submersible pumps ben has that will do around 2500/3000 ph.
you have 9 tanks/outlets so if they all flowed at the same rate you will have 333lt going into each tank, workin on the bigger pump.
so this means that a 34mm hole drilled in the tanks, using 25mm bulk heads and pipe you should have a good even flow thru all the tanks.

now the sump you could get away with a 3 footer no probs.
