Post by: lee on October 08, 2005, 09:59:57 PM
What is the best food to feed B/N as in food you buy from pet shop? What vegies or fruit do they like and that doesn't unsettle the tank? any help would be great, just bought some and like help on what to feed them. thanks Lee :?

My bn and plecos eat everything and anything...Veges once a week (cucumber, zuchini, pumpkin, brocolli etc etc), any of the foods i put in such as flake, pellets and a couple times a week i throw in some algae wafers.

Just with veges with seeds like cucumber..if you dont have that many in the tank i cut out the row of seeds otherwise it will pollute the water pretty quick and then they eat the whole thing...skin and all :P

I make a mix of Zucchini, Silverbeet, Pumpkin, Carrot, Spirulina, Garlic, Calcium & set with Agar then frozen.
Its really cheap to make in comparison to buying comercial mixes but I not worth the tassle if you only have a few fish to feed.  Someone is making a similar mix and selling it to shops.  Bill has it at Smiths Aquarium.
Cheers Linda

G'Day, i use HBH-Veggie Waffers, they are expensive at around $60 for 567grams but my Bristlies love it. i also mix it up a bit with some cucumber and for fry i use some blanched lettice or silver beat and some pulped Veggie waffers..... :)

I make a mixture of one can of catfood (seafood Coktail) with 500grams of Bi Lo Frozen peas mixed in a blender. I keep the old frozen bloodworm trays and spread the mix onto these trays and freeze you get about 16+ trays then each day I put a cube in all the tanks with bristlenoses in them  They go ape over it.
