I know that loaches and scaleless fish need lower dosages of aquarium treatments, but I think everyone knows that.Sorry not sure.......
well if you have the ammount of snails I have in my bn tank, the ammonia/nitrite spike after the snails have died will be enough... fish fish fish fish turkey fish fish gobble
Put a Clown Loach in there.<

Hey Daz,<
><
>I just recently had the same problem in my display tank. It had plants, fish the whole lot etc.<
><
>Anyways, I ended moving the fish in to another tank.<
>Cleaned out the canister filter.<
><
>Then treated the entire contents of the tank with chlorine.<
><
>Not a single cone snail was left, I had so much that the gravel was alive ;)<
><
>Prior to the chlorine blast, I got some clown loaches to help but they worked at a very slow rate and I think these snails were reproducing at light speed.<
><
>In any case, everything back to normal and not a single snail in sight. Will be moving the fish back in soon.<
><
>If I ever get any new plants I am going to give it a real good wash.<
><
>Cheers<
>Ali
Also one more thing...<
><
>As far as I am aware the snail rid products only control the snail population. They will never eradicate them which means stop using them and you''re back to square one.<
><
>Kind Regards<
>Ali
I did have a massive snail problem in a 6x2x2 I bought set up. I just used clown loaches. If they are going slow, put more in. I don''t think it is a problem having them though.<
><
>I have no snails in that tank now. Not to mention no snails full stop.<

Yeah I guess so,<
><
>But when you already have a fully stocked tank, adding more fish is not something you want to do.<
><
>I guess planning and is the key thing here :)<
><
>James, how many clown loaches did you get?<
>What snails did you have?<
>how large were the clown loaches when you bought them?<
>What other fish did you have in the tank? <
>How long did it take before you realised that there are no snails?<
>Didn''t your loaches eat any other food?<
>Not sure if you can have no snails left, what about the really small snails? Not sure if the clown loaches can get them.<
><
>Ali
relocate fish to another tank and scrape the inside of your tank with a stanley blade style paint scraper $4 from bunnings<
>then boil everything including substrate to eradicate the snails forever...... Cheers<

I originally put one in. Just the 3cm ones from an lfs. They were just the dodgy cone snails. The gravel looked alive. It did take a while, but one day I just realised they were all gone. There are four in there now so I imagine if there are any left, they get eaten as soon as they are big enough.<

own little snails in it.<
>they haven''t been bothering me too much but they''re starting to multiply too quick.<
>so i put 2 of my 6cm clown loaches in there and since yesterday they''ve wiped out about 30% of them. Steven & Amy<
