Have used it with discus for treating hexamita.
Tablet form is suppose to be better than liquid, as liquid form is supposed to contain alot of sugar and cause bacterial blooms.

I've read that...
I've noticed that hobbyists at cichlidforum.com use it for numerous diseases and for many spicies. Is there anywhere where it says what diseases it treats? Where can I buy it? Vet?
cheers

I've heard of it being used for HITH and for bloat.. I think you need to get it prescribed from a vet or something in Australia.
Metro is meant to specifically treat internal flagelletes, which become a problem due to multiplying when fish are stressed.
Best way to get it is by having a chat to your vet, helps if you are a regular and get to know them. Bring a few print outs of symptoms and dosages from webpages and forums etc. Some people get a prescription from their GP (guess it depends on how well you know the GP).

I know of one petstore/fish shop that has recently started stocking it in Windsor (brissie north side) along with a few other fish meds that are rarely seen around

It's a Schedule 4 drug, so you'll still need a prescription for it. Unless it's a recent product and available in lower dosage.
I have used Metro to treat bloat in Tropheus
I got mine through a Vet but I had to provide all information to her so she could prescribe it to me.
Most tablets come in 400mg, I have found, and I have found the tablets are alot cheaper than the liquid. Tablets cost me $26 for one dose and liquid was $72 for one treatment. Most dose rates are in 250mg tablets so becareful to do the conversion. I thinks it something like 250mg/38L or 400mg/60L. ( I dont have a calculator handy 8O )
There is a good thread on cichlid forum, in the tropheus section about dose rates and a treatment regime, its in a sticky at the top of the page.
I guess it will depend on what you need it for

I know for certain it's used for humans but have never heard of it being used for fish etc. Wondering if it's the same make up as that prescribed by doctor's for human consumption?
Cheers,
Bryce
Thanks for all the info and advice.
Thank god I don't need it now, but sooner or later I would like to have it handy as I'm getting into tropheus more seriously...
Cheers guys

It's the same active ingredient in humans as it is in fish/animals. The only difference is the dosage amount, even the route of administration is the same.
If you keep your water clean, & give Tropheus the right foods you should be right.
Prevention is better than cure.
Frenchy :D
for hith use at the dose 7mg/litre
