Hi All....
>Was wondering what you feed these little fellas to get them to grow?
>And was also wondering if they had to be grown/hatched in fresh water or salt?
This may seem to be a silly Q's to most, but any info would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks you. :D
Brine is another word for saltwater so they hatch and grow in saltwater.
Food can be found at you LFS or http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/category69_1.htm
If you don't have much luck growing your own, there is frozen brine shrimp and baby brine shrimp available. Usually about $4 a pack and $6 for baby brine.
first are you hatching them to feed to fry???
if yes, you dont need to feed them anything as you want to feed them to the fry within the first 24hr.
if no, and you just want to grow them up, put a tank out in the back yard in plenty of sun and let it go green and put some that have hatched in there. they will eat the green algea. they dont have a long life span!!!
salt water, you can make up your own at about one big tea spoon of rock salt to 800ml of water. or better get some freah ocean water....already salted...
also you have to airate the water so drop in a air stone or in your up turned coke bottle which has had the bottom cut off it drill a small hole in the cap and push the air line into it that way.
after 24 hours the brine shrimp eggs will have hatched so then turn off the air and wait a few min till all the bs will sink to the bottom and the egg shells will float to the top.
to get them out have a tap on the air line where you can turn it off, pull the air line apart and they will sink down the air line where you can drain them off into the fry tanks.
