Hello all you fellow CQ folk, it is about time that we all got together again over a BBQ and some nice cold beers now that the weather suits it hey!
Lloyd (Mudskipper) has kindly offered to meet at his place in Moura on Sunday the 4th of December for a bit of a BBQ and check out all he's been doing in his fish room.
Moura's pretty easy to get to, comfy 2hrs from Rockhampton, less than that from Gladstone, and about 2 and a half hours from Blackwater, depending on which way you go, and Emerald to there about three hours.
So bring along some meat and we'll have our own get together before Christmas hey!
Lloyd's got a great setup and it would be all good to catch up again, it has been a while since 2 years ago in Rocky when we got together at my place, and then the big hand from a heap of you as well with the big tank move out to Blackwater last year, the mission to get Mick's 8fter in the house in Rocky....all a bit full on really:) so this time, let's just get together, have a chat and swap some fish if interested, and meet all of you other CQ guys and girls that we are yet to have caught up with!!!
So, spread the word to those CQ'ers on the forum and we'll add more details about time etc, probably when Lloyd next logs on.
Cheers all,
Andrew.

hope to get to the bbq should be fun to catch up and that
jamie
have fun boys.
I will be driving to Brissy that day I have traing for work 5-9 not sure if i am flying or driving as yet, but will probably be leaving that day, water changes the day before!
but i will catch up with you all eventually, here in rocky sometime i guess
I am not going to be there.
Don't get back from Melbourne until the 7th.
James
Hi guys,
Looks like Kylie,Joe and I should be able to make it. First day off so should be all good. Let you know for sure later.
Look forward to it.
Dave.
Hey Dave,
Well mate, that sounds like a plan, Min and I heading down as well.
Gary and Warren, any idea what you fellas are doing?
Karen and Lee (sorry if it's Leigh) ? Might you guys head out as well?
We would love to go but at this stage we are not sure. I will have to let you know closer to the date.
We have been meaning to get to one of these get togthers for a long time now
no worries Frank,
Hopefully you can make it!
Cheers mate,
Andrew.
Andrew,
Will see what i can organise, at this stage i work night shift before and after but still might try and do a run out as it is not too far :)
Cheers
Gary
G'day Gary,
Night shift before and after hey.....nasty :(
When are you Gladstone boys going to host the lot of us down there? he he. Would be great to check out the set ups, I have caught up with Scott a number of times now but yet to see anyone else's place in Gladstone!
Well mate, i guess see how you go hey, i don't know how long your shifts are, 8, 10 or 12 hrs, if anything like the long shifts out here then champ, know just how stuffed you feel during night shifts and the risk of driving too mate so i guess just see hey, better catching up another time than genuinely risking safety....
Safety First and Production will Follow....that's the motto out here anyway :)
Well, i do look forward to catching up with you in any event mate, when ever that is so great to see you're still checking out the forum a bit and hope all is well with you and your wife the best champ,
Andrew.

Chaps
Sorry i couldnt make the weekend, always seem to have an excuse. I have changed jobs and am moving out to Middlemount to earn some of those coal dollars.
Between moving family, work, house and fish i have got two big weeks ahead.
Dissappointed i cant get to see your setup Lloyd.
I intend to come and see you in Blackwater Andrew in the new year. Will be back in touch.
Some food for thought, a couple of mates and I are hiring a truck in the early months of next year to head south and buy a number of new tanks, if anyone wants tanks, stands etc picked up let me know. if anyone else is heading that way in the mean time let me know and we can work out some freight costs if you have some spare room for some tanks.
Have a good day
Regards
Warren

Agree with you there Mick, awesome setup! Gives a newcomer like myself something to aim for. Lovely fish, many I would like to add to my own collection, although not sure about Andrews sugestion that I should be keeping Malawis. The Tangs are keeping me busy enough at the moment, (and broke enough!). Thanks guys and girls for the day, look forward to returning the favour sometime in January. Will check the roster and see what dates we can organise it for.
Thanks again.
Dave.

maybe next time, good to here u had a good trip up north.
should be able to get u some good photos of my moliros soon.
cheers lloyd
:o
Thast not good to hear about the ute Andrew, i always fear the skiipies will ruin a trip for us, but at the fear of jinxing myself i think we have good skippy karma , after raising so many!
As for the stroms, it rained almost the entire trip back home for me, and very heavily around Wowan, stopped about Westwood.
As soon as i get the garage sorted, and get Married 8O , i think i will have a gathering here...end on march, maybe in April....!
Well team,
It was a bloody superb get together, PICS NOW ADDED BELOW.
More food than you could poke a stick at Lloyd, and great to see you Mick, as well as Dave & Kylie, travelled the furtherest out of the lot of us for sure.
Fish we absolutely superb, you'll have to pop up here for a day lloyd in the week before Christmas and i'll give you a cd with all the literally 1000 or so photos i ended up taking :)
It was a superb day and here is looking forward to the next- expect piccies very soon.
Andrew.
ps- ute in in rocky now, skippy did a good job so wont have her back until late jan/feb probably. them's the brakes.
Warren, Middlemount hey....my goodness. that's pretty good champ, a comfy 1hr 45 min drive to here via Wilpeena or about the same from Dingo.
Before you go tearing down to Brisbane champ, come to Blackwater and see if any of the tanks i have lying around suit. Hareysfish (scott) is selling up in Gladstone too so a good fish room there, and here's the tip, come about 12-14months from now, Lauee's Fish Emporium :) might be in need of a move, as we're thinking of heading o/s for a couple of years. So just think all your forum users, who i have driven the 1000km's or more and hauled back car, trailer and truck loads of tanks...damn that is a lot of tanks :)

Super VC10, a new addition to his display 8ft, very nice indeed.
Cheers,
Andrew.
Good photos Andrew, but there appears to be someone missing. Can't quite think who it is  , So how about it??
Dave & Kylie.
I agree Dave he puts up probably the worst pic ever of me, on the phone laughing, eyes shut, looking scruffy....
lol, but none of Andrew.....there should be one to document his tyre changing skills! How is the fore head, will you have a mark?
But yep nice pics of the fish.....pitty that one of the moliro doesnt show his real colours..... 8O
Wow, thats a Moliro.
how old is he anyway...?
I'm so tempted to super-feed my moliros now :D cant wait till they get big :D :D
Milenko
Hello team,
Well, unfortunately there is not one photo of the missing person so no photographic evidence to say Andrew was there, other than this one of the way home, although andrew still isn't in the picture....evidently the camera was never in anyone else's hands to take a picture of me!
[img:e2e3cbf8dd]http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d135/Fishtraderlau/Lloyd-PostrunningintoSkippya.jpg[/img:e2e3cbf8dd]

[img:e2e3cbf8dd]http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d135/Fishtraderlau/Lloyd-KarilaniCoppera.jpg[/img:e2e3cbf8dd]
This would have to be one of his absolute favourites.. Karilani Copper
So there you have it everyone, what a absolutely superb weekend in Moura it was, great time, great company and truly great fish!
looks like we might get a piccy of me up after the next get together hey, and Mick, only photos i took of you were while on the phone and that's the pick of them :)
Cheers all,
Andrew.
ps- Milenko...they are one hell of a fish hey- Lloyd really is one of the best tropheus breeders to rival others for sure.
They are some nice whiting fellas!!!!
James
Ah James :)
When will you appreciate our cichlids champ :) he he
How is it all going in rocky for you, haven't seen you in ages! We'll be in rocky more in the new year, have to catch up i dare say champ. hopefully next cq get together in Emerald but you time is surely fast approaching to show off all your stuff, is under the huge house of yours full of tanks yet or what :)
Cheers mate,
Andrew.
Not nearly as many tanks as I would like. Still working in Glad, so I am not caring for the fish I have at the moment, let alone more!
The house really isn't in a state to be shown off yet! But we are slowly getting there.
James
Excellent thread. Enjoyed the reading and the pics. Be nice if someone gave us a run down of the fish room and filtration and setups etc but still a good read.
Thanks again fellas
Winston
g'day winston,
glad u r enjoying the fish photo's and post, andrews new camera is sweet. very nice indeed. as u all can see from the quailty photos
well here is the run down, it is a very basic fish room nothing out of the ordernary.
on the right hand side is 1 big stand, 18ft long 2ft wide and 10ft high, the very top self is mainly for storage but it does has 2x 90lt homemade trickle filters for the 2 6x2x2 underneath that top self.
mid self has a 2x1x1 and 2x 6x2x2 they both have there own trickle filter, which is above the tanks, and the moliro tank which is the 1 i am looking into has 2 extra 2000lph internal filters in there, this gives a good current, which the tropheus love to swim in.
bott self has a 8x2x28 and 2x 4x2x2 the 8fter has 2 external canister filters with about 3000lph a 2000lph internal filter and 2 sponge filters. the 2x 4fters share a sump/trickle filter as well as internal and sponge filters
on the floor is 4x 3x15x18, 5x 2x12x15
on the left hand side are 4 different stands, first 1 is 6 ft long and holds 4x 3x18xx15, 4x 2x14x14, 3x 2x2x15, 3x 2x1x1 & a 4x15x15
next stand is 5 ft long and holds a 3x2x28, a 4x2x2, 2x 2x14x14, & 1 bar fridge.
next stand along is 4 long and holds a 4x2x2 & a 3x2x15
last stand along is 4ft long long and holds a 4x2x2 & 4x 2x2x15
all tanks on this side run a sponge or internal filter or both
air in the room is supplied by 1x 150lph air pump, a manifold run pretty well right around the room.
cheers lloyd
that's a few tanks lloyd, how many litres in there? :)
It is a top setup, Lloyd forgot to mention the hours he spends in there, has some of the the best water quality i have seen and as a result probably one of the highest spawning success rates as well.
Maintains his own supply of fresh hatched brine shrimp, microworms, and quality flake and well, it's no wonder i love heading down ot Moura.
We were planned for a day or two here in Blackwater this week but alas, all sets, yes, all 3, of keys ended up in Brisbane with my wife so alas, couldn't get in there until yesterday arvo, a week later and am happy to report that fish are all happy, every single one.
I look forward to more threads like this after we catch up with one another up here guys and girls, the 100's of km's we drive to see each other sure makes for a good read and some piccies.
Here's to Blackwaster - Emerald in the new year hey!
Thanks for your comments Winston, good that you were able to have a good read, when are we going to get an invite down to check out your shed :) you know we'd make the trip!
Cheers all,
Off for a few days over Christmas, catch you when we get back.
Andrew.
heys guys sorry i didnt make it i have been up in bed sick as a dog for a few weeks, looks like it was a good day and very impressed with the fish room, have to catch up soon
