Title: catfish ID
Post by: fishouse on November 18, 2005, 11:15:59 PM
A friend of mine has come across these catfish that originated in SA and was wondering if anyone can help us identify them. Now to me they look very similar to some sort of bristlenose, but as you can see by the pics they are of odd shape..is it some sort of deformity or another species. finding out would be of great assistance to work out if they should be destroyed or worth keeping.

Anyway here they are!

Banjo Bristlenose I'd say.
Its a deformaty that has been breed on into a new type like the Balloon Rams & Mollies and the 'heart' discus.
Aquarium Industries were selling them a while back.

Darn,,,

With all the controvercy these "Banjo deformaties " caused some years ago I would have thought all responcible breeders had given up on them.

Just goes to show,,,,,some breeders have no morals when it comes to money.
