During the breeding season (November to March) the male will put on a colourful display, strutting around in jerky little movements in his yellow, blue and white suit. When this behaviour is observed it is best to separate the breeding pair from other fish and put them both into another tank. They should spawn in a few days and the eggs will hatch in 7 to 10 days, each mature female producing about 150 to 250 eggs. The male will guard the eggs by chasing off any other fish. He will also fan the eggs in order to create water circulation and prevent fungus from growing on them. The fry take about four months to develop the characteristics which allow the juveniles to be distinguished sexually.

IT DOESN'T HURT TO PUT SOME SALT IN THE WATER AS THESE GUYS LIKE A SLIGHTLY BRACKISH ENVIRONMENT.
