how???
depends what species you plan on doin it too? some species like jacks and barras naturally come from both fresh/brackish and salt water environments - but you would want to do the change gradually with small water changes
I think it has something to do with the osmosis effect on the fish, so the more graduall the change the less stress on the fish.
I had a tiny flathead that i once had in a freshwater tank...... lived for about a month...??
had a little nemo and a domino fish in fresh water' done 2litre water change once a week
over 6-7 months after that 30 percent once a week.
had him for 18months like that. then sold to a friend
yep mate it is possible using very gradual changes of freshwater over a period of time. Bream are an example of fish that can be easily changed from brackish to fresh.
You will have a much greater success rate if the fish in question was obtained from a brackish system compared to a fully salt water system
well yes apart from the jacks that we all know about you can do flathead and bream.
even the later i would keep in brackish water. once you have the water right for brackish conditions it just means when you do a water change you chuck in a handful of rocksalt......
the flatty will be hard to feed as it is an ambush fish and will lay on the bottom waiting for the fish, bait, food to come to him, so if you want to keep him in with other fish you will have to come up with an idea on how to get the food to him b4 the rest get it....
