Title: Problem in the Native Tank.
Post by: Boydii on December 09, 2005, 06:59:30 PM
Ok, some of the rainbows are getting flesh wounds and I want to know the culprit, the tank is inhabited by rainbows(few species) Bluey Eyes, small Gudgeons a smal sleepy cod(almost smaller than all the rainbows) and some good sized Scats, could the scats be the ones going at the Rainbows? I was under the asuption they were vego's. Any types of infection that cause flesh wounds?

Can you get a photo or two of the problem?
Could be the sleepy-cod, they'll try and fit anything moving into their mouth.

Maybe TB??

Hard to say without seeing it.

Cheers
Steve

for me the sleepy cod might be trying to take on fish that are just a bit to big to fit in his mouth, atm.
try taking him out and see if the wounds still happen.
are the sores a raised redish sort of lump??
if they are just flesh wounds try a little rock salt in the water to help heal the wounds.

Go the scats!!!

Scats will do it. I've seen a red scat rip all scales off all sides of a peacock bass before, just for fun. The peacock bass wasn't the smallest of fishes either... scats can be evil at times.
