Title: Safe salt Levels
Post by: Konigwolf 13 on December 17, 2005, 03:37:54 PM
I have next to no experience with adding salt to tanks so looking on some advice here please. I have a Salmontail Cat in a 4 footer with others listed below, and since salmontail idealy should have some salt, I'm wondering how much is safe for the other fish.

Blue Dolphin 13cm
Common Pleco 12cm, 8cm
Convict 6-8cm, 6-8cm
Thomasi 6-8cm
Blue Gourami 10cm
Krib 10cm, 10cm
Red tail shark 8cm, 8cm
Black Ghost knife
2 Angels

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Edit In - Salmontail is about 12cm

I don't really think forktailed catfish need salt. They do extremely well and also breed in FW. We catch some monsters in Wivenhoe, maybe around 70cm.

Here's a link to DIY salts for African cichlids:

http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/aquainfo/salts.html

Maybe other DIY salt info on the same website, but I'm not sure. I think you could get some good info anyways.
All I've got sorry.

Thanks for the info, might steer away from or just use a little bit of salt for now and just monitor the salmontails progress/health

In general rule of Salt is: 1 gramof salt  per 1 litre of water.
Hope that helps.
