Title: food or paracites?
Post by: batters on December 29, 2005, 07:58:38 PM
i got some little red creatures in my pond which came with some weed from a local dam, i'm not sure wether there a good or a bad thing they seem to leave the fish alone so im thinking there not parasites. does anyone know what they are? there probably about the size of a grain of sand, bright red and swim around midwater.

thanks
mick

o they look like worms if so they are probably blood worms which feed on plant matter.

They are daphnia best fish food,  catch them to feed to your fish

That would have been my next guess especially if they have little arm like appendages of the front.

Feeding on green water they are red and that is when they are the best food value.
