Do female lombardi get egg spots on their anal fin like some other africans cause I have a fish I cannot sex. It is either a very dominant female or a semidominant male. Can't tell if it's yellow or blue either(halfway in between).
males go blue and girls go yellow....
what size are they?
If you can catch it out, do so, and put it in a white bucket. it will turn blue or yellow and then you will know
RJ has it back to front. The boys are yellow and the girls stay blue
Josh
If it's halfway, my money is on male. Still, it's worth isolating to be sure, mbuna can be weirdoes.
post up a pic.....and as the others said put him/her into a white bucket and he'll turn blue or yellow.....

Actually Males turn yellow
Females stay blue they dont change colour
If he/she has started to change and has any yellow its a male

Brad
Thanks for the help guys, I'll put him in a white bucket first thing tomorrow.
I have 4 lombardi's, 2 male & 2 female. These fish have bred many times and I have stripped both the females so I know they have both been pregnant. Just recently my dominant female has been fighting with the other female and as a result has changed colour (to a mix of yellow and blue with the egg spots on her tail). So there you have it - I'm assuming it's a dominance thing.
