Post by: Cichlidkeeper on January 13, 2006, 02:05:39 PM
Wayne has made a very generous offer but I was just wondering if anyone might have a larger bit on the gold Coast??? Otherwise who has experience in 2 outlets of 32mm piping and one inlet of 32mm pipng....how many litres per hour could I get through this? Any help would be apreciated!

hi cichlidkeeper.

i have a 4 foot x 18 inch x 20 inch tank and the inlet is drilled with a 32mm bit
and the outlets are drilled with a 35mm bit and i pump 2800 lph of water from sump
and have no problem at all.

32mm drilled hole take's a 3/4 inch fitting
35mm drilled hole take's a 1 inch fitting
fitting's cost about
$13.00 buck's for 3/4 inch fitting's
and
$16.00 buck's for 1 inch fitting's

ps: it pay's to have bigger outlet's from tank, than the inlet to tank.
(can drill tank's no problem)

keep in mind that a 1 inch outlet flows 77% more than a 3/4 inch outlet.

if the 35mm holes (1 inch fittings) are at the top of the back of the tank, dont expect more than 900lph to flow out of them... if they are in the base and you have stand pipes then maybe 4000lph could be obtained.

If you want to work out your flow rates, this is the place to go.
