hi steve.
like the mozoo top filter.
yes i have one like them overhead trickle filter and i find it good easy to clean and cheap to run it's on a 3 foot x15x15 inch tank with glass bottom i have it at one end of the tank and it pushes all the crap to one end make's it easy to siphon out waste.

What's it like as a mechanical filter? I imagine it would be better biologically???
hi steve.
yes it is good all round mate i don't buy the filter's sponge from the lfs shop anymore.
i get the quilt stuff cheap from spotlight used for making paded quilts it's about $5.00 a metre and about 2 metre's wide.
cut filter's for all my filter's out of it cheap as chip's.
i buy about 4 or 5 metre's when they have there sale's and i sit down for about an hour cutting out all sort's of size's for all my filter's and i don't have to buy a filter for like 8 to 10 month's.
i have ceramic noodle's in the bottom then the sponge, and on top the quilt padding real easy to clean and alway's plenty of spares when it get's dirty, work's out like 3 cent's a filter mate bargin i think.
ps. thinking about getting a couple more of those filter's for other tank's.
