Does anyone breed axolotls or keep them. They look pretty cool and was wondering if anyone has them.

They are pretty cool, I've got two, one brown one yellow, pretty easy to look after, havent bred them yet. The only problem when you put 2 in a tank, they have a habit of biting each others feet off, luckily they grow back. I now keep them in separate tanks.

we have 6 in a 1mx450mmx600 tank.4 males about 150mm long and 2 huge females 250mm long. We recently got a chiller for them and keep the tank at about 19C and they are very happy. There is a little chinese algae eater in with them and a large mystery snail in a heavily planted tank with lots of logs and rock caves. They love bits of prawn, earthworms and if offered nothing else (we hand feed them) after a few days will begrudgingly eat axie pellets. The 2 females I bought in about September and were barely 50mm long (and missing various limbs) and they grew to there current size very quickly on a diet of live bloodworms untill they were big enuff to handle earthworms.
They are great pets , we love ours :)

forgot to say DO NOT use large gravel in an axie tank, use sand or very fine (1mm) gravel. Axies tend to scoop up a bit of gravel when they eat and sometimes mistake large stones for food (they have poor eye sight) you would not beleive the size of the stones a couple of ours have had to pass (OUCH!) because the petstores had them in a tank with pebbles on the bottom.
