Title: TALKING ABOUT AUCTIONS
Post by: wrk21 on February 08, 2006, 07:26:03 PM
The GOLD COAST AQUARIUM SOCIETY  has its  auction on this saturday 7th Oct 2006.

This time its being be held at the ALBERT WATERWAYS COMMUNITY HALL on the crn of SUNSHINE BLV and NERANG/BROADBEACH RD ,BROADBEACH.

It is situated right across the road from Pacific Fair Shopping Centre behind the library, with plenty of parking.

To get there from Bris, head down the M1 till you get to the Broadbeach exit and follow it, till you get to Sunshine blv, turn right at the lights and then first right again. the first building you will see is the library and the waterways hall is right behind it.

Its nice and big with plenty of room and its got aircond.

Just wanting some info on this auction. Never been to this one or the Super auction. Is the Gold Coast one a members only thing or is that just for sellers? What sort of turnout do you get to these auctions in terms of sellers, auction lots etc? I've heard that the aveage quality of fish tends to be higher at the Gold Coast auction due to the members only thing, would this be correct? Would you rate it as worth travelling to if you where looking for more specialist fish? I'm mainly interested in Tanganyikans at this point, but could possibly swayed by some of the more uncommon Malawais  :)

Thanks.
Dave.

Dave,
The GOLD COAST AQUARIUM SOC auctions are open to the public, as in buyers and sellers.
Being on the gold coast we dont get as many ppl as the one in bris ,prob around 120/140 ppl.
The quality of fish are up there with any auction but i wouldnt count on getting some of the more rare tangs. Having said that we dont know what ppl are going to be bringing in so it is a real lucky dip.
like in bris there will aways be the flavour of the month type fish and at the last bris auction leccy yellows and BN were it. ie every 2nd lot of fish were the above.
if your never been to one come on down but im not promising you anything........

cheers,

I did my best to appear interested, just thought of how much fun the 2 dogs would of had.

Air con too, no expense spared ah. Lovely.
