Geophagus hondae
Well, that's another week gone by....
You're all sort of on the right track - It is available in Aus, doesnt always go by Geophagus name (but does belong to the family Geophaginae, which is why I answered Yes to Wayne's Q). It has a more modern name, if that's not a dead give away clue
You're all sooooo close.

Has anyone said blue ram? If not...is it [i:4444bce7e2]Papiliochromis ramirezi[/i:4444bce7e2]?
Andrea :)
Hi Andrea, nice to see you around :)
Papiliochromis ramirezi?... No
I may be being a bit of a bastard with this one as it is commonly referred to by one of the previous answers, though scientifically identified as something else and it is believed that they are two distinct species.
I'll shoot off Brad a PM and see what he thinks. (will also make him ineligable.. lol) Sorry if there is any confusion.
Cheers
Steve
Edit to fix my spelling mistake (i hate poor spelling  )
earth eater?
well if it has been refered to before and all the names before have been the scientific names..............whats the prob?
is it a convict???
Ok guys,
Here's my problem - The fish in question is Satanoperca Leucosticta.
It has been lumped together with G. Jurapari in the past, though is a distinct separate species.
It has been sold as both in the hobby in Aus.
In all fairness I'll give this one to Davez104.
Sorry for any confusion (mostly mine... ) and thanks to all for your guesses!!
Well done Dave, your turn.
Steve
ps. Thanks Brad for your pm
cool....
