Title: 1st peppermint bn spawn.
Post by: Thanes on March 03, 2006, 10:42:18 PM
With this rain my peppermints have spawned for the first time. The male has kicked out some eggs that dont look fertile but is still fanning.I dont want to disturb him but would he have only kicked out the unfertile eggs & sit on the rest , or would he have kicked them all out.Any advice would be appreciated.
Ta Brian.

Don't disturb him. A couple of our males always kick out some or all the eggs and they still hatch so leave him be and seee what happens.
Good luck.
Cheers Linda

hi brian,
nothing looks better than a tank full of peppermint fry.
my male had kicked half the last batch out,
they were going a bit fury, he remained in the log fanning
ended up with around 30 fry.
so i would leave him.
cheers dave.

Thanks for the info Dave & Linda I dont think the eggs are fertile but will leave them there until they got fungussy & I'll leave the male as suggested.Hope we'll see fry shortly.
Ta Brian.
