Title: 3 Spot Easterns ???
Post by: Ulysses048 on March 04, 2006, 09:39:12 AM
Would anyone have a picture or a link to information about 3 spot eastern cichlids.
I bought some of these at the auction - and cannot find much information as to their feeding, breeding habits etc.
Your help would be most appreciated.
Regards

Yeah I tore my hair out for a while trying to positively ID the 3 spot Easterns.
The best I could ascertain is it's closer to this one here:

However, the scientists themselves from Lake Malawi are still having trouble getting a handle on the numerous variants of the Copidichromis genus.

Also take a look at this discussion:

Maybe Doug (DSFishkeeper) can shed more light on them, but in Oz they're commonly known as "3 Spot Easterns".

Copadichromis sp. "three spot eastern"

It can be found in "Malawi Cichlids" (in their natural habitat) 3rd Edition by Ad Konings
Pages 319 and 321.

If you are serious about Malawi Cichlids you should have this book,

Ben has it here.
