maby a pulu point/red zeb cross a elecie yellow maby
Look very similar to Gold Zebs, popped up on the scene 2004. If they are, more than likely a cross between Electric Yellow & a Pulu Point Zebra. But as an example, a mate has a female one in a display tank & she breeds with a Cobalt Blue.
Can really see the Pulu Points in them.(photo)
Frenchy :D
Metriaclima barlowi

Or here is another reference seems a bit of difference in photos in the searches I did so maybe the top one is miss identified.

Danny
thanks danny
i think you may be correct
i have a lot of this fish and will release to market in time
regards kevin
they arnt barlowii thats for sure , or they are a dirrerent strain to the ones i have .none of the ones in the piccie have any blue through their fins and arnt yellow (like the male barlowii is) even the female barlowi isnt red like the ones in the piccie.
To me they look crossed but could be wrong just one seems to have a large peacock eye and the rest small eyes and head shape isn't constant.
in real life they are bright yellow with some blue on body
kev
try this one

I agree...not barlowi. Some sort of cross I'd be thinking. Bring some with you when you come over to Perth
Andrea :)
but there very nice
kev
May help, are they local, or imports? :?
Frenchy :D
justin
not ask what i will not answer :D

Suppose not the best question on a public forum, a private pm with, eg; far away, or they like bamboo, or octoberfest be good this year... 8O sure you could of thought of something if they are locals. I know of a local who's breeding what looks the same as yours.
'but'
If its meant to be a big secret & all, because you think they are some fancy new zeb. Heres a tip, maybe ask what the fish is when you buy them.
Frenchy :D
So they're not those line bred Labidochromis caeruleus? The ones where people bred out all the black to produce an all-yellow E.yellow.
I remember a bloke in Perth did this about 2 years ago. Caused a bit of a ruckus on the Nth American Cichlid-Forum.com when displaying his handiwork, but I think they're fairly common in the States now anyway.
That's what they suspiciously look like to me anyway. :?
thanks gtr
thats what thay were bought as {justin here is a tip french}
but i am not sure
eletrice yellow no black
regards kev
Wish I could find that thread, I think it was on the Perth Cichlid forum. From what I recall the breeder in Perth worked tirelessly to produce a completely yellow Labidochromis caeruleus. He posted pictures of his first all-yellow batch on that forum as well as cichlid-forum.com but no way I can find it now. Some people's responses were negative, but some people loved them.
I must admit I don't mind the look of them as a display fish only.
Here ya go GTR...

Andrea :)
Ah huh, that's the one.
Thanks Andrea, do you still have your "Yellow yellows"?
No I don't. Kimbo took all of them and I don't know if he pursued the quest or not :? I wish I had taken photos of them before they went though so I could add them to the electric yellow article I wrote.
Andrea :)
I knew you would of bought them as something? I just wanted to know, might give more of an idea, or confirm thoughts of what the fish is.
Yellow-Yellows?? They look just like the Gold Zebs.
Below I have placed 3 pics for comparison.
With the middle pic(YYs) there are some differences when compared to the electric yellow.(top)
The bit of red in the eyes(YY, red zeb trait), the shape of its head & mouth, the thicker rounder body, the shape of the fins-especially the dorsal, anal & pelvic. Are all like the Red Zebra. And also YY has no black markings. Why try to breed the markings out too?

[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/Picture019.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/RedZebPulu.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
In the group shot, there are variances in the head & mouth shapes, I take it they are all from the same batch? These variances lean me towards them being hybrids.(imo)
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/Awholebunchofthem.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7]
So I reckon you got what is commonly called Yellow Yellows(Hybrid) or Gold Zebs.(Hybrid) (imo)
In the article Andrea(thank you) supplied, have people seen what the Canadians have done with crossing yellows & pulu's:?
It is a concern as some of them look better than our own "pure" yellows, the 2nd one!!! 8O

look as this page, really nice and clean, yellow....hybrids.

So if I am on the money? & I hope I'm not. Are these being sold as electric yellows?
nb; Edit of post by me, after re-reading. Some of what I wrote came out a tad off colour,(note to self not to jump on forums when smashed) apoligies to Kev, if I offended.
I believe that most here would of recieved a fish we weren't sure of.
[img:dba087e2f7]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/Herefishiefishie/2005_0523Image0003.jpg[/img:dba087e2f7] This was meant to be an albino yellow, bought from a reputable North Brissie store. At 2cm looked like it might be by 4cm, nope.
Then there are these yellows, or is that the cream, the white, the beige, ivory...I saw these at the time of Andreas E.Yellow article, had to get a pic.
