>Hey Don, don''t red humps (Geophagus steindachneri?) lay their eggs on something and then pick them up after 24-48 hours and mouth
ood from that point? If so, that would make it a bit hard for the cuckoos to do their thing.<

Depends on the observer aparently......  last ones I watched the female just picked them up. Male picked up a few but spat them towards girl. Doubt eggs would last in the tank they are in, but i have had several girls with mouthfuls.

I have some cuckoo''s I would like to
eed (2f and 1m) have 7 designated
eeding tanks being: Maingano, electric blue, Pindanni, Salousi, Fueliborni, Electric yellow, Exasperatus. Just wondering which of these would make the best hosts if any???

>I would try the electric blues first, in my personal experience the cuckoos seem to
eed more effectively with the "non-mbuna" type hosts. I have a colony of cuckoos
eeding sucessfully at the moment with Copadichromis 3 spot eastern as hosts. If you want to have a try with the copadichromis, I have some spare young
eeding size ones (8-9cm) available at the moment. I''m on the Gold Coast.<
