Title: How do you feed fry whilst away???
Post by: mr_stallion1 on March 25, 2006, 08:08:36 PM
:?: We are going away for a week or two over Easter and are unsure on what to do with our fry (pulu points).  They will be about 4wks old at Easter.  How do people feed their fry without any outside help?  Is it possible, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.  Does anybody use block feeders?  :?:  :?:

you can get automated fish feeding machines that drop a preset amount of flake or pellet into the tank.   Of course they could get stuck in either the on (dump in all the food) or off (dump in none) position

edit:  Actually more reliable & cheaper is if you can get someone to feed them daily (or every 2nd day), but you'd have to put each portion of food aside in film cannisters or little tupperware dishes or something & make sure if they skip a day they don't "double dose" to make up for it.

Actually, come to think of it - it's easier just to not go away!

If your getting someone to feed them for you, I find the best way is to get some iceblock trays, set out each days food in a different block and put it in a glad bag.

On top of the tank!!!! big thing if you have meat eaters and tropheus.

Automatic feeders are good, but i wouldnt trust 2 weeks to them.
