Title: Treating eye bites
Post by: cichlidwoman on March 27, 2006, 11:16:59 AM
Hey,

Just wondering what everyone does for treating eye bites. My Johanni was bitten a couple of days ago, I've moved him to a medical tank and away from the suspected offender. His eye has gone opaque and there was a significant bite out of it. I'm currently doing the melafix thing but was hoping there might be a more successful treatment...

Thanks in advance,

Alana

Unfortunately there is not much you can do once it goes opaque.

its all fun and games till some one looses an eye.... must be the week for it, one of my yoyo loaches is missing an eye today,I'd say he learned the hard way that cucumber is for bristlenoses not yoyo's.

my female acara bit the male on the eye about a year ago (she's the offending eye biting that I was referring to before!) and it turned opaque then cleared up in a couple of days...I'm assuming it was just a superficial bite and wasn't a real nasty one in which case they end up losing it.
