Archer fish, Saratoga, barra mabe.

Not much really, those teeth destroy other fish! the only thing you could put in is something faster or bigger than him.

Either they were a LOT bigger or you've got the softest jack on the planet!

i think it is the softest jack because the firemouths are the same size one is like 1/2 cm bigger

Need to remember guys, we are talking about an "almost 2 inch long" Mangrove Jack here. Poor little thing probably hasn't even got its milk teeth yet. I'll look out for the update in a few months time :D

Cheers, Doug

blind cave fish work a treat as they dont see the jacks mouth coming.a spotted goby and a feeler shrimp will also be a formiddable pair.if that does not work large schools of toadpoles will slow him down.remember jacks dont like warm water ,being from the arctic circle and all.when jacks are young in the wild they feed on carrots ,corn and milo .dont feed quik it is loaded with sugar.a 2inch jacks liver can not dissolve sugar properly try glucose powder.stir thouroughly.but not to brisk.

I have a school of Spangled Perch in with mine and they all seem to get along alright. The perch are a bit smaller but seem to have the jack in line.

just thought i'd add i keep mine with 2 oscars about the same size (2 inches) and they do fine. one of the oscars feels the need to attack the jack every now and then but the jack sends the oscar running, thats the only time the jacks aggressive really. oh i also have 2 scats in there which r pretty much ignored.

cheers mick

Scats and tandanus....
Target fish/cresent perch can hack for a while
and oscars can match growth rate until a point.
If you are willing to change fish as it grows theres lots of stuff that can kill a small jack.
Also beware that they are jumpy when little, especially after bugs, so cover the tank and don't teach it to jump for food!
Personally I think a Jack by itself in a tank
Is good enough to not bother adding stuff.
