Title: Orange spot kicks out eggs
Post by: AndrewF on April 25, 2006, 09:52:44 AM
Gidday,

I have an orange spot - first spawn - kicked out his whole pile of little eggs. No doubt this happens from time to time, but having never had this happen prior Im keen to know if my male will always do this or has he kicked out the eggs due to poorly fertilised eggs..??

Any other reasons from past experience this happens?

Andrew

I have this happens mainly through fish fighting in the spawning area sometimes a second female will want to spawn and through the other eggs out sometimes the eggs haven't stuck properly and is accidently push out if they are orange they are fertile so you can artificially hatch them.

I had the same experience. Only occupants in the tank were the male and female O'spots, yet the eggs were kicked out on first spawn.
I did the ring around, Thanx Stuart
Scooped them up and sat them in a breeding net over the airstone with a bit of Meth Blue..
100's of babies was the result!! only lost one egg in total.
Start Bubbling!!   :D

P.S Not sure if they continued to kick their eggs out as I sold the Breeding Pair.
